This is how you should make special effects movies

James Cameron didn’t get to be King of the World again at the recent Oscars, having lost the awards to Hurt Locker in the categories of Best Picture and Best Director. Though I have to agree that Hurt Locker won deservedly, one fact remains unchanged – you can never go wrong with Cameron when it comes to big budget sci-fi action movies.

Looking back at his works, I don’t think there was ever a bad movie made by him. Alright, Titanic might be a little overrated, it was still a highly entertaining film. Terminator, True Lies, Abyss, Aliens, they are all classics that had pushed the boundaries of film-making technology of the day. Likewise, Avatar has opened up new frontiers in 3D technology. I wonder 30 years from now, will Avatar be as significant as Stars Wars is today. Time will tell.

The likes of Michael Bay, Roland Emerich should take heed, this is how you make special effects movies.
